One of the duties of the defensive midfielder is to
defend the area between the defenders and midfielders. However, in 3 cases, he
cannot defend this area with his mistakes and the opposing team will be
dangerous.
1-Defensive midfielder goes forward to press on the
opposing player who comes from the centre. If the defenders don't go forward
with him, that area will be empty. If the opposing player sends the ball to his
teammate and gets it back after passing the defensive midfielder, he has the
opportunity to shoot.
2-While the opposing team is attacking from the wing,
the defensive midfielder goes to the wing to increase the defensive power.
However, if he doesn’t see the player who comes from behind, this area remains
empty. If the player on the wing sends the ball to the centre forward, who then
immediately passes to the player who runs into this area, that player has time
to shoot.
3-The opposing team player approaches the line and crosses,
as everyone turns towards the goal, he also moves towards the goal. If the
opposing player crosses outside the penalty area, his teammate is available to
shoot since there is no one defending that area.
