Atalanta-Manchester United

 

1-Both teams have more players in the centre. When Atalanta passes from the defence to the midfield, they do not send the ball to the players in the centre, gives it from centre-backs to the wingbacks.

2-United's mistake in the goal is that all 3 centre midfielders are only in the zone to the right of the defence. While Zapata crosses, there is no one defending the front of the penalty area.

3-The midfielders of Atalanta played by changing places with the defenders. The players playing close to the opponent and the players on defensive areas have constantly changed. In this way, each player kept their energy.

4-The pressing types of teams in the opposing half were different. While United was dispersed evenly on the other half with all the players, Atalanta players did individual pressing on the opponents who wanted to come to the defence and get the ball. Atalanta's choice was more correct for this match.

5-United's first goal, Demiral went a little further, and the middle of the defence was empty. While Ronaldo and Fernandes went into this gap; Freuler, Koopmeiners and Pasalic did not so Ronaldo scored.

6-The distance between Bailly and Maguire in Atalanta's second goal is too much. When Bailly approached the wing, one of the centre midfielders should have run between these two centre-backs.

7-The purpose of Cavani and Matic substitutions was to stay longer for offensive players in the third zone. Matic tried to direct the game by getting between the centre-backs. Cavani, on the other hand, aimed to keep the ball in the penalty area longer.

8-United could not be effective throughout the match. Because they always wanted to play from the centre. They have inside wingers. Shaw and Wan-Bissaka were unable to contribute to the offense. They could not use the spaces behind the Atalanta centre-backs who came forward.
